Series and episode overview by Tricia Helfer Fan:
Supernatural is CW Network’s thrilling paranormal drama series about Sam and Dean Winchester (Padalecki and Ackles respectively), two brothers trained by their father to hunt down and vanquish evil. As they travel hunting evil throughout America, the two encounter a variety of unearthly beings at the same time as they try to find their destiny and their missing father.
In episode “Roadkill”, Molly McNamara and her husband are driving late at night on a lonely highway, when an old farmer with his guts spilling out suddenly appears in the middle of road. Molly is barely able to dodge the man, but the car swerves off the road and rams into a tree, rendering her unconscious. When Molly finally regains consciousness, the car is totaled, leaning against the tree, while her husband is nowhere to be found. As Molly desperately searches for him in the surrounding woods, she once again encounters the gutted farmer, who then attacks her. Desperate for help, Molly starts running and heads back to the highway, where she in her turn is nearly run over by Sam and Dean. When the farmer seems determined not to let Molly leave the road, Sam and Dean do everything in their power to help Molly escape his clutches, with unexpected consequences for them all.

Tricia Helfer portrays Molly McNamara, a woman desperately seeking for her mysteriously disappeared husband after their car swerved off the road and crashed in the middle of nowhere. When her husband is nowhere to be found, and when she returns to the crash site only to find the car gone as well, Molly soon begins to realize that there’s more to the crash as well as the Winchester brothers than meets the eye.
“Come on! Isn’t this argument a little archaic? Men can ask directions these days.”
[David tries to cuddle]
“No, stop! I’m mad at you.”
[David: "Oh come on, Molly! You love me..."]
“No, I don’t! You’re a jerk. David, I mean it!”
“I… I swerved and we crashed, and when I came to, the car was wrecked and my husband was missing. Ah… I went looking for him, but that’s when the man from the road, he started chasing me, he…”
“We were supposed to be in Lake Tahoe. It’s our five-year anniversary. Right before we were having the dumbest fight. It’s the only time when we really argue, when we’re stuck in the car.”
“You know the last thing I said to him? I called him a jerk. Oh God. What if that’s the last thing I said to him?”
“This song… It was playing when we crashed.”
“What is that? What are you doing?! What…. what the hell just happened?!”
[sees Sam and Dean's gun collection in the trunk] “Okay, uh… Thanks for helping, but I think I got it covered from here.”
“You know what? I’m all filled up on crazy, I’m gonna get the cops myself.”
“So this is really what you guys do, you’re like ghostbusters.”
“She didn’t want to live without him.”
“You hunt these things, but you don’t know what happens to them?”
“So that’s why he won’t let me off the highway…? Because I killed him. I killed us both.”

Personal Thoughts
Sandra: It took a long while for Supernatural to grow on me, but it has since become one of my favorite shows on television, largely thanks to the great onscreen chemistry of the show’s stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles. So the show’s a little formulaic — what show wouldn’t be today? The casting really makes up for whatever lapses in the story, and the supernatural aspect of the show isn’t really (or at least mostly) as silly (or as scary) as it might sound. One of the few unique shows on television today.
In “Roadkill”, Tricia Helfer is quite convincing as the distraught Molly, even if that’s really the only emotion Tricia gets to play almost throughout. She’s particularly great in the opening and end scenes and especially the first, in which Molly and her husband David bicker in the car over David’s choice of road to Lake Tahoe; the scene is not only endearing but somehow very captivatingly genuine. She also appears in the episode virtually all the time, so this is a great episode to watch all around for any fan, whether it be of Tricia or the show.
