Series and episode overview by Tricia Helfer Fan:
No Ordinary Family is a one-hour dramedy series from ABC about a typical American family who unexpectedly gains specials powers after their plane crashes in the Amazon.
In episode “No Ordinary Love”, the mysterious Mrs. X (Lawless) tasks the sexy — and dangerous — Sophie to cause Jim (Chiklis) and George (Malco) to fall under her spell and make them do whatever she wants them to, placing Jim’s marriage in jeopardy. Meanwhile, Stephanie (Benz) must decide whether or not to inject a patient with the trilsettum serum and risk turning him into a super in order to retain Dr. King’s (Collins) trust, and Daphne’s (Panabaker) boyfriend begins to have suspicions about the Powell family’s abilities.

Tricia Helfer portrays Sophie Adler, a mysterious woman who catches both Jim and George in her web with her power of seducing by the release of feromones. With the help of her unique ability, Sophie is ultimately able to seduce Jim into placing a bomb at Dr. King’s hospital facility, Stephanie’s workplace. But why is she after Dr. King?
[Stephanie: "Alright, so when did you two first meet?"]
“I know what you’re thinking. But when you know exactly what you want, it doesn’t take long to know you found it. And George knows what he wants.”
“Well, I hope your schedule opens up soon…”
[looking at Jim's flower bouquet] “Are those for me?”
[Jim: "Who else would they be for?"]
“I don’t know, maybe your wife?”
[Jim: "My wife?..."]
“How did you do that?”
[Jim: "Oh, there's lots of stuff I can do that you don't know about, Sophie. Amazing stuff."]
“That is good to hear. Coz I can use a man who can do amazing stuff.”
[on the phone]
[Jim: "Hello?"]
“If you’re with your wife, pretend I’m George.”
[Jim: "Hello... George."]
[Jim: "I can do a lot more than just that."]
“And you will, I promise.”
[Mrs. X: So, have you found someone who can deliver the package to King yet?"]
“The perfect candidate, actually. Don’t worry, I have everything taken care of.”
[Mrs. X: "You better. Because I don't handle disappointment very well."]
[Stephanie: "Listen to me. She's infected you somehow and you're not thinking clearly!"]
“Love can do that to a man.”
“You can’t stop him. Or me.”
“I don’t know what happened, I had everything planned out perfectly.”
[Mrs. X: "Sophie, is it really so hard to admit that you've made a mistake?"]
“I’m so sorry.”

Personal Thoughts
Sandra: No Ordinary Family hadn’t aired in my country yet at the time that I first watched this episode, and my opinion of it is therefore based solely on this one episode. And I have to say my thoughts are mixed. I think it has potential for a good series, but this particular episode felt both predictable and plastic. Although the episode had its moments, a lot of the character interaction in this episode felt downright wooden, though Michael Chiklis did pretty well with what he had to work with. I like the premise of the show, though, as well as the Chiklis-Benz-Malco casting. I guess I just had hoped for more.
As Sophie, Tricia delivers a solid performance, and one not unlike some of her previous TV guest roles to date. But even though her character is pretty one-dimensional thoughout, many of Tricia’s expressions are just spot-on, something I really tried to catch screen capping her. Not a bad role overall, just not anything we haven’t already seen before. :)
