Series and episode overview by Tricia Helfer Fan:
Jeremiah is a post-apocalyptic Showtime drama series set in the year 2021, 15 years after “The Big Death”, a strange virus that killed everyone above the age of puberty. The show follors the lives of a couple of the oldest survivors, Jeremiah and Kurdy, living on the scraps of the world while trying to find a way to rebuild it. The series lasted for two seasons (2002-2004).
In episode “The Long Road: Part 2″, the second part of the series’ two-hour pilot, Jeremiah (Perry) meets the mysterious Simon (Gillies), who later turns out to be an “investigator” from the Thunder Mountain refuge. The refuge turns out to be a complex originally built to survive a nuclear attack, where a group of people are now living in isolation, protecting both themselves and their supplies from the outside world. When Simon is later fatally wounded, he asks Jeremiah to warn the people at Thunder Mountain that “The Big Death” might soon be returning, and so Jeremiah and his new travel partner Kurdy (Warner) make their way to the mountain, before embarking on another adventure.
* * * *
Tricia Helfer portrays Sarah, a small supporting role as a Thunder Mountain refugee in charge of newcomer integration and orientation. Sarah introduces Jeremiah and Kurdy to the premises of the mountain.
“This place was built to survive a nuclear attack. It would’ve taken decades before the outside environment was livable.”
“If we let the outside world know we’re here, they’ll swoop down, take everything they can carry with them, burn the rest and we’ll be right back where we started! It’s not my decision. Or yours.”
“Don’t get too excited. It’s not as good as it looks.”
“Markus is the heart of this place. Without him, I think the whole thing would fall apart. He’s an extraordinary man. He believes in things. He believes in us, this place… in the future. And he has this amazing ability to make other people believe in things, too. Before I came here, I didn’t think there was a future to believe in anymore.”

Personal Thoughts
Sandra: I don’t really have a lot to say regarding this show, to be honest, simply because I’m not at all acquainted with it. I was fairly young when it originally aired in the U.S., and it has to my knowledge not aired in my country at all.
In the pilot episode, however, Tricia has a very small and relatively uninteresting role as Sarah. Despite Sarah and Jeremiah’s differences in opinion when it comes to how to best utilize the resources of Thunder Mountain, Sarah is a warm, sensible and inviting personality, as well-conveyed by Tricia, however beyond that Sarah is of little relevance to either the show or the arc of the episode. Still, if you’re a big fan, the episode is definitely worth checking out as Tricia nevertheless makes more than a five-second turn in it, has several lines, and therefore serves as a great look at Tricia’s early career and roles.
