Spectacular news! TV Guide has exclusively learned that Tricia Helfer will be guest starring in an episode of the future third season of FOX’s crime drama Lie to Me, as headlined by the critically acclaimed Tim Roth. According to the source, Tricia will appear in an as-of-yet unspecified Season 3 episode as Naomi, a mysterious woman with an attraction for Roth’s Dr. Cal Lightman. More via TVGuide.com:

Battlestar Galactica alum Tricia Helfer will guest-star on a Season 3 episode of Lie to Me, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.

Helfer will play Naomi, who’s attracted to Lightman (Tim Roth) despite being frustrated by the inability to hide anything from him. But when she calls on Lightman for protection from a violent ex-boyfriend, it’s Lightman who begins to wonder if her beauty has impaired his lie-detecting skills.

Helfer joins a slate of Lie to Me Season 3 guest-stars that includes Breaking Bad’s Anna Gunn and Shoshannah Stern. The airdate for Helfer’s episode hasn’t been scheduled.

The third season of Lie to Me is currently set to premiere November 10 2010. As always, we’ll keep you posted on any and all developments regarding Tricia’s involvement in the series.

This sounds altogether brilliant. Congratulations on another kickass project, Tricia!

“I don’t understand this overprotective father act you’re pulling.”
- Alex Rice

As always, we hope everyone was able to check out Tricia Helfer’s Wednesday’s appearance as FBI Agent Alex Rice on TNT’s gritty undercover cop drama, Dark Blue, starring Dylan McDermott, Omari Hardwick, Nicki Aycox and Logan Marshall-Green. Episode 2.06 “Jayne Wayne” aired last Wednesday at 9 PM on TNT.

Episode overview from the TNT website:

2.06 “Jane Wayne”
Jaimie poses as a junkie in order to infiltrate a dangerous crew of thieves who pose as DEA agents in order to steal from drug dealers. As Carter grows concerned about Jaimie’s eagerness to make the case, Ty and Dean are stuck with a loveable yet annoying informant who wants nothing more than to be a cop, just like them.

Even though this episode contained by far the least of Tricia as Alex of all Season 2 so far, to me personally, this was the best episode of the season to date. Nicki Aycox particularly shone in this episode, and it really felt like a complete package as a whole. Of course, I would’ve been very happy to see more of Tricia onscreen, but then quality doesn’t always equal quantity, and although Alex’s scenes were few this week, she had a couple of moments which quite made up for it.

Anyway, media-wise, as always, the gallery has been updated with 150 site-exclusive 720p HD screen captures of Tricia in the episode. It appears we forgot to upload the clips from last week’s episode (2.05 “Brother’s Keeper”), but we’ll try and get both those and clips from the new episode up before next week’s Dark Blue dose. Check back soon!

In this clip, Tricia specifically talks about her favorite Season 2 moment so far, a scene from episode 2.02 “Liar’s Poker” (i.e. the second episode from the two-hour season premiere), in which her character FBI Agent Alex Rice kills someone for the first time when she shoots down a perpretator, and how she prepared for the scene. Just a quick heads-up that Jonathan Sobol’s directorial debut, the indie dramedy A Beginner’s Guide to Endings, which we reported a while back would premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this September, now has a more exact premiere date: September 17.

More precisely, Endings will premiere September 17 at 6:30 PM at the Roy Thomson Hall. At this point, we don’t know whether or not Tricia Helfer, as one of the film’s stars, is planning to attend, but although the TIFF website does not list Tricia as an “expected guest” (unlike e.g. director Sobol and co-star Harvey Keitel), the Sep 17 premiere is listed as a “Premium Screening” on the TIFF website, likely meaning it will be a star event. And if this of Tricia’s tweets via her Twitter account @trutriciahelfer is anything to go by…

Looks like I’m going to have to give it a try…or two : ) | torontolife.com: TIFF Cocktail List (Aug 28)

Unless Tricia confirms her attendance intentions explicitly via her various official outlets, we can’t say for sure she will be there, but keep your eyes peeled for pictures around September 17 anyway. After all, it is the film’s world premiere in her homeland of Canada… Fingers crossed!
